best books: according to DSD

As staff member at Union University, I have had the privilege of seeing Dr. David Dockery’s (the aforementioned DSD) leadership up close for the past year.

I have found Dr. Dockery to be a man of admirable character and leadership, measured of thought and wise in word and deed.  I have a great deal of respect for him and I am fully satisfied to find myself under his leadership.

The past year has presented some unbelievable tests.

For those of you who may not know already, February 2008 brought a powerful f4 tornado that destroyed on-campus housing for around 800 students and caused 40-50 million dollars in damage.

And all of us are perfectly aware of an economic crisis that is devastating our country and, especially, our nations’ higher education system (even Harvard has implemented a hiring freeze).

In these difficult times, Dr. Dockery has proved his character and his grit.  He is a good man and for that reason I wanted to pass along his recommended reading list for the last year (how incredible that a man could go through what DSD has experienced and have time for a book, let alone a list of books?)
