Time to take this blog elsewhere

June 16, 2011 Leave a comment

With two kids successful & consistent blogging all comes down to time, time, time.

Sadly, the time has been short.

And with time being short, it’s hard to validate 30 minutes staring at the computer fighting with WordPress to post an update.

So we have a choice. Give up on blogging or give up on WordPress.

Well, adios WordPress and hello Tumblr. From now on you can catch us at http://rewilsons.tumblr.com where the super easy Tumblr iPhone app has given us a new lease on blogging.

And you can always keep tabs on us throught the miracle of Twitter:

Ok, see you later … and not on WordPress.

babies caught on camera

December 19, 2010 Leave a comment

Don’t worry, we haven’t been neglecting our little family’s camera time since the arrival of baby Liam … we’ve just been neglecting your blog access to those images/videos.

In fact, if you join Twitter (come on … everybody’s doing it) you can follow Beth, Lee, and even Abbey!  Through Twitter, your internet access to our family will multiply exponentially.

If Twitter intimidates you, there are a good number of videos of Abbey and Liam that have been uploaded to YouTube, and they are all available for you to watch on our YouTube Channel.

We have no plans to pull the plug on the blog – we just don’t anticipate having the time in our crazy lives to make promises of weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly posts.  That said, we’ll try to post with enough frequency to have a post pop up in your RSS Reader every now and again.

Until next time, here are some favorite videos from the last several weeks:

This first video is one of the happiest moments in our life as parents and we are hoping there is more to it that just toddler silly-fun-times:

Here’s Liam being Liam, doing baby things & making baby faces:

We have tried to have some special Bible reading, song singing, and prayer praying family time during Advent (the season leading up to Christmas celebrated for centuries by believers in Jesus) and Abbey likes to bring all her things along for the ride:

See you next time!

Here are some pictures of Liam as of late. These were all taken this week.

Asleep as usual

Just woke up

For your Abbey & Liam comparing pleasure:

Abbey at 7 weeks

Liam at 7 weeks

Another comparison:

Abbey at 7 weeks

Liam at 7 weeks

He is just learning to smile

He looks so concerned

This is him, literally 19 hours of the day or 79% of the time.

Not sure about the big camera

Lee came home for lunch

Awesome

In other news, this is Abbey at Chili's yesterday. Notice her hair, it is in pigtails! It was a first.

pictures, pictures, pictures of baby Liam

October 14, 2010 9 comments

Here are some pictures for our friends and family.

William David Wilson, “Liam,” came late night at 11:21pm.

Yesterday I told Lee, maybe we will be in the hospital by Thursday night, little did I know we would have our son to hold before midnight Wednesday. In fact I told Lee to go and grab a sandwich downstairs at Subway. Before he returned, the doctor came in and asked if I had a way I could reach Lee because this baby was ready to come.

Through all of the ultrasounds and news of him measuring small, we are amazed at the Lord’s graciousness and kindness toward us. He weighs a little over 7 and 1/2 pounds and is healthy . God is good and does good.

I am feeling really well for just delivering a baby. Recovery, without disclosing too much information, will be just about as easy as it gets. With two children under two, this is another one of God’s kindnesses.

Thank you for all of your prayers over this pregnancy. We have found great comfort in our good and gracious God, knowing that Jesus is for us, in all circumstances.

Lee, explaining to Liam that he too will one day have a beard.

Jonathan Skagfield and Jordan Howerton both seeing Liam for the first time. They had planned to camp out in the waiting room all night, but Liam was ready to come quicker than we all expected.

This was Jordan’s face the entire night – amazed.

Jonathan, who made the three hour drive just to be here for Liam’s birth. He also made the 10 hr drive from Florida for Abbey’s birth.

I am feeling no pain at this point. I am also stunned he is already here. Lee told me to look excited, which was not hard.

Early this morning

Liam’s first time to see the sun.

Liam is here! (more pics in the AM)

William David Wilson, who we’ll all call Liam, was born at 11:25 pm on October 13.

He is 7lbs, 9oz, and 20.5 inches long.

You can find a couple photos of him on Lee’s Twitter page (@leewilson) but you can also look forward to us posting a handful of photos on the blog in the morning (hopefully before 9:30 am).

Beth is doing great. She was really tough and, amazingly, took only 15 minutes and 6 pushes to get Liam out of her belly and into our arms. She’s an incredible woman.

Thank you for all your prayer, encouragement, and support. We feel very loved by you all.

Baby Liam: Real Time Live Updates

October 6, 2010 Leave a comment

Don’t panic, as of the posting time of this note, Liam is still happily kicking and throwing his elbows around in Beth’s belly – he seems content there even though today is his due date.

I just wanted to pass the word along to our faithful blog checking friends that I will be live updating about Liam’s birth via Twitter.

Last time around, there was an outcry of opposition due to the delays in posting photos of Abbey after she was born. This time around, the ease of updating Twitter with short bits of information and photos using my iPhone makes staying informed much easier … and gives all of us fewer headaches when it comes time to post the all-important first baby pics.

Lest you be tempted to stress out because you are not familiar with Twitter – don’t fret, it’s easy.

You don’t have to sign up for anything. You can just open www.twitter.com/leewilson on your web browser, refresh every now and again, and voilà instant updates. (you can also track Beth at www.twitter.com/bethwilson but don’t hold your breathe for many updates from her, she’ll be otherwise engaged)

If you are a Facebook aficionado, you can also just keep an eye on my status updates (which Twitter automatically posts for me) and you will be hip to the details of Liam’s arrival.

I hope this is a help to you, friends and family. Know that you are loved.

(and, know that both Beth and I update our Twitter accounts much more frequently than the blog … it’s just so quick and easy for everybody involved … but we will continue to keep posting to the blog as life continues to unfold for us in West Tennessee)

who is liam?

Abbey’s answer?

Not bad Abbey, not bad at all.

. . . . . .

And here is another freebie of Abbey’s new “bye, bye” game:

more things in toilets

September 20, 2010 Leave a comment

Despite the risk of developing a reputation that we have a fascination with potty humor, here’s an instant Abbey classic.

It’s the perfect follow up to our last post (“things in toilets too“), enjoy!

Stay tuned for more toilet hijinks!

Also, 2.5 weeks until Liam arrives (if he shows up in a timely fashion)

things in toilets too: or, lesson not learned

August 20, 2010 2 comments

Several weeks ago we posted about a mishap involving a t-shirt in a toilet and a baby confusing a washing machine and a toilet bowl.

Evidently, we didn’t learn our lesson.

Yesterday was laundry day for our bed linens. Beth washed our sheets, comforter, and pillowcases to a whiter than bleach white – and Abbey helped.

Today Abbey decided to do laundry again.

She managed to first steal a pillow off our bed and then cram it halfway into the toilet before Beth and I discovered the transgression.

While I pray several times a week that Abbey would love being a helper to her mommy, this isn’t exactly what I had in mind.

Here’s Abbey only minutes after we busted her for misguided helpfulness:

ultrasound update: all systems go

August 18, 2010 4 comments

Huge sighs of relief followed the ultrasound Monday morning.

The technician did her thing, thoughtfully avoiding Beth’s bellybutton due to Beth’s hypersensitive bellybutton trauma issues.

Then the doctor came in, flipped through our file, ran a quick ultrasound check up, and let us know the good news.

Dr. H (good luck spelling his last name) said that our son was growing steadily at the rate they want to see at this point in the pregnancy, that he was “very pleased with the results of the follow-up ultrasound”, and that he “saw absolutely no room for concern moving forward into the last month and a half of the pregnancy.”

No bed rest, no restrictions, just normal pregnancy care until our son decides he wants to show up and hang out with his sister.

At the moment, he is just under 4 pounds at 33 weeks, which makes him a bit smaller than average (32nd percentile), but the doctor “wouldn’t even call him a small baby.”

All that to say, we are indescribably thankful that the Lord chose to show his kindness to us through this whole anxiety-ridden process, giving much grace.

Oftentimes, that grace was most evident in the reminders that you were praying for us, the emails and Facebook messages that encouraged us, and just knowing we were not alone in all of this.  Thank you.
