from the hospital: abbey’s birth (12)

[7:20 am, CST]

The nurses just scared me a little bit – a lotta bit.

Abbey’s heart rate dropped so they rushed in, rolled Beth, got her oxygen, called in the doctor, poked and prodded. and then Abbey’s heart rate picked right back up.

Interpretation: everything is fine, it was likely Abbey’s head squeezing into the birth canal and she didn’t care too much for the extra pressure.

The doctor also said that Abbey has definitely dropped more and that Beth is “completely open” (she has reached 10 cm).

They backed off the pitosin to “give Abbey a break”

And, now we wait a little bit to see if Beth’s hormones carry her the rest of the way or give time for Abbey to be ready for some more pitosin (just to be careful).

That would be a negatory on the nap, fyi.

. . . . . . .

I’m writing to let you know that we have extra space for the next couple of days if you need a place for people to stay. We’re going out of town tonight, here’s what we have available:

Thursday night: queen bed, two twins, couch, air mattress, floor :)
Friday night: same plus Leana’s bed
We may have space Saturday night as well, but I’m not sure yet.

We’re not leaving until tonight after David gets off work, so let me know if someone needs to stay. If I don’t hear from you I’ll call later to double check, as I know you’re distracted.
