quick thought: extinction 2.0

i called Beth on the phone the other day, only to encounter this really weird, obnoxious, repetitive beeping sound.

i hung up, looked at my buddy Zac, and said:

“man, that was weird.  i haven’t heard a busy . . . sound, noise, uh, what’s that sound called?”

Zac, with a blank stare:

“i don’t know what you are talking about”

oh, I remember:

“busy signal! that’s what that was”

. . . . . . .

i forgot what a busy signal was called because I don’t think I have heard one in years.

busy signals have been replaced by instant voice mail rollovers.

and time keeps on ticking, ticking, into the future.

. . . . . . .

when is the last time you heard a busy signal?

can you think of any other technological phrases that are in the process of extinction? certain to go the way of the dinosaur during your lifetime?

. . . . . . .

stay tuned for a forthcoming story abouth the entire Wilson-Kirby-Leach family going high tech and logging into Skype.

How bout toilet paper? Who uses that stuff anyway? The postmodern man finds no need for solid lines and clean cracks, we’re fluid beings who aren’t confined by The Man telling us how we’re supposed to be spending our time.
