spotlight: what’s new with the dockerys?

My buddy Ben impressed me this morning with:

  1. the biblical praise he heaped upon his awesome wife Julie,
  2. his keen insight into the fact that blogs are the ‘city gate’ where people gather to share news, and
  3. the reminder that the Dockerys are but a couple weeks behind the Wilsons in having their very own sweet little Abigail.

I thought I would pass along his thoughts in a quick post, spreading his example of loving and praising his wife.

From the WhatIsUpDoc blog, here’s Ben:

The final words in Proverbs read… charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.  give her the reward of her labor, and let her works praise her at the city gates.

Julie, 3 weeks from due dateMany of our friends have not had the chance to visit our new place and Louisville and see all the hard work (labor) that Julie has put into our house.

She has been creative and organized.  She has been clean and thrifty. She has been cute and diligent.

Before this weekend is up, we plan to upload a video so those interested can see the house, specifically, the baby’s room.  It looks great!

Around the house, I often refer to Julie as “PTO” which is a rather cheesy way of referring to the ‘capable’ woman who the Bible holds up as an example (Proverbs Thirty One).

She is doing the equivalent of ’selecting wool/flax’ and sowing; she is doing the equivalent of ‘merchant ships, bringing food from far away’; she is doing the equivalent of ‘evaluating a field and buying it’ (for profit).  All the while, she is enjoying it and making life enjoyable for us as we await our daughter.

I wanted to take a quick moment and sing the praises of my capable wife at the city gates of 2009 (i.e. the Internet- the place where people get the scoop).

You will see her handiwork on video shortly, but here (above) is an updated picture we just took.  Gorgeous !!

Be sure to follow the latest on Ben and Julie at their blog (where Ben has predicted, in detail, the unfolding of the entire final half of a NCAA football season and, occasionally, says something worth reading about things worth knowing).

. . . . . . .

The odds are in our favor, but whose Abigail will emerge first?  Only time will tell.

. . . . . . .

Also worth noting, the Dockerys will be unveiling their nursery over the weekend.

The Wilsons will be unveiling their nursery, via the wide world web, come Monday afternoon – no more teases, games, harassments, or taunts, we are pulling out the stops!
