‘consider yourself . . . compromised’

masked-manIt may not have been this guy, but somebody snaked our credit card number.

I tried to login to pay our credit card bill today and got a lovely little message to give Discover a phone call.

The machine that answered the phone quickly put me through to an operator, who took my information, asked me a question, and solemnly uttered the following statement:

“Sir, I have to inform you that your card has been . . . compromised”

What? Who? How?

I asked the nice lady what she was talking about.

Her response:

“Sir, the compromise has been reported to us by the law enforcement authorities and we are not privy to the details of the case, I’m sorry”

Consumer, beware.

Don’t join the list of the Compromised.

. . . . . . .

Anybody else have an experience with credit card fraud or theft?

so does it seem that you had that “feared” catastrophe during your trip after all?

ha! well done Mama K, well done.

exactly. thats the thing about this … they “couldn’t tell us anything about it”

so basically we wait for our new cards to be overnighted and the log in with the information they will provide.

I guess your questions may (or may not) be answered then.
