In honor of Nate and Hannah Williams’ My Music Monday, I have decided that I am going to introduce a new blogging tradition.
Despite being from Austin, Texas, it wasn’t until I was married and living in Louisville, Kentucky that I really began to value great music – music that reflects the creative image-of-god-ness that shows itself in humanity in various ways.
Some of the music will be lyrically Christian but, in all likelihood, most will not.
Either way, the hope is that I might be able to help you get your week started with the “right note“.
(as an aside, Beth hates most of the music I love – just so you know)
. . . . . .
Here’s a little music that originates from another “in honor of” shout out, this time to Jason Nichter, who passed me a burned copy of “Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix” by the band Phoenix (which I promptly lost).
With a friendly nudge (and a well placed jab for losing the cd) from Jason, I downloaded Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix and it quickly moved to the top of my album rotation.
You can be confident that if you like the YouTube clip below, you will dig Phoenix’ entire album:
(CAUTION, if you are prone to light induced epileptic seizures, do NOT watch this video – or it will go badly for you)
Feel free to read up more about the album over at Paste Magazine.
. . . . . .
What do you value in “good music”?
In your opinion, how do you define what “good” music is?
Big news this week, sweet baby Jane Rogers was born on 9/9/09:
Baby Jane’s Daddy and Mom are two of our favorite people in the world – they’re gonna be great parents.
Let it be known, blog followers, that the Rogers gave us Wilsons a healthy dose of what many of you experienced after our Abbey’s birth …. I think Beth must have checked the Roger’s blog and Facebook pages about 200 times before they were able to post pictures of baby Jane.
. . . . . .
In other big news, mad props to Jason Nichter for taming a wild stallion, one of his personal goals for the year.
. . . . . .
Finally, we are currently in Northeast Arkansas at Crowley Ridge State Park, where Lee is preaching through the book of Colossians for the University of Memphis Baptist Collegiate Ministries.
